GSN Games will launch a mobile platform where you can play cult games like Tetris and Pac-Man for real money.
Wanting to monetize users, companies are going to new tricks. GSN Games, owned by Sony, is no exception.
The company announced the launch of an unusual Sparcade platform. It will be launched as a mobile app for the App Store and Google Play. The platform will allow you to play classic games with other players in real time and for real money (that is, to participate in the party you will need to pay $ 1, the winner will receive $ 2).
To play Sparcade, you don’t have to play only for real money. Players will also be able to play for chips. You will be able to earn the latter both in battles and regularly returning to the project. Players will be matched according to skill level.
GSN Games has already agreed with Electronic Arts and Blue Planet Software for use in the Tetris service, with Hasbro for use, and with Scrabble for Pac-Man. Only this is not limited to titles.
Greg Canessa, responsible for the creation of Xbox Live Arcade, is responsible for the platform. He also previously ran PopCap, Battle.net and was vice president of mobile Activision Blizzard.
The new platform reminded us of the Skillz mobile platform, with which Glu Mobile cooperates.
