Thekla Inc studio has opened a grant competition for independent game developers. The main conditions for participation are interest in the genre of puzzles and belonging to “underrepresented” groups in the gaming industry.
Representatives of Thekla stressed that first of all they want to help game creators from various minorities on gender, national and other grounds, as well as those who “do not receive enough support in the existing structure.”
The latter in Thekla, for example, include developers for whom English is not their native language.
Grants will range from $3 to $20 thousand. The grant budget of the studio is $ 100 thousand.
The studio promises that it will not make claims for games created with the help of the funding received from it.

Thekla Inc studio is known as the creator of The Witness puzzle.
The Witness was released in 2016 on PC and consoles, and a year later an iOS version of the game appeared. The title received good reviews from gamers and critics. In the first week, the game sold more than 100 thousand copies and earned over $ 5 million.
According to the Steam Spy service, about 450 thousand users now own this game on Steam alone. This is quite a lot, considering not the most popular genre of the title.
