The dispute between the Russian studio Black Sun Game Publishing (BSGP) and the co-founder of the company “Akella” Dmitry Arkhipov about the rights to the franchise “Corsairs” was not resolved in favor of the latter. Arkhipov’s company was unable to challenge the court’s decision on the early termination of trademark protection.
This is reported by the Telegram channel “Gamer”.
Thus, the rights to the brand “Corsairs” were officially assigned to BSGP, which is currently developing the game “Corsairs: The Black Mark” (“Corsairs” 4).
Recall that the conflict between Black Sun Game Publishing and Arkhipov began at the end of February this year immediately after the developers posted their project on the crowdfunding platform QIWI Fundl.
Prior to that, Black Sun Game Publishing appealed to the court with a request to terminate the protection of the trademark “Corsairs” due to its non-use for three years.
Dmitry Arkhipov compared the actions of BSGP with a raider seizure and sent a statement to QIWI Fundl, where he claimed that the development team of the “Black Label” has no rights to the franchise.
