The Chinese giant Tencent continues its expansion into the American market. The company announced the opening of a new office in Los Angeles, which will employ hundreds of people. This is the fifth Tencent office in the United States.The new office is located in the area of Playa Vista, which is part of the territory of the so-called “Silicon Beach” (Silicon Beach).
In this area of Los Angeles, which is analogous to Silicon Valley, offices of many technology companies are located. Among them are Facebook, Google, Neftlix and Oculus.
Previously, Tencent already had several small offices in Los Angeles, Claremont, Santa Monica and Century City. Now the company will unite all employees in one office with an area of almost five thousand square meters. It will be called simply – Tencent L.A.
Starting next week, 150 people will work in the office, and within three years the company plans to double its staff. To do this, she opens up new vacancies in the field of game design, development and programming.
In addition to the Los Angeles office, Tencent has offices in Irvine, New York, Seattle and Palo Alto.
Recently, the Chinese company has also been acting aggressively in the field of M&A transactions. In 2020, it made 31 investments, which was a record among all gaming companies. This year, Tencent makes an average of one deal every 2.5 days. Among them is the purchase of shares in Remedy, Bohemia Interactive and Dontnod.
