Disney has published on the App Store and Google Play its new game Temple Run: Oz, created “based on” the fantastic film of Sema Raimi “Oz: The Great and Terrible” coming out on March 8.
The project was created by the internal studio Disney – Pocket Mouse based on Temple Run 2 from Imangi. So in many ways, the new game is a banal ruskin: we run along a winding path, go around obstacles, collect coins. However, it was not without innovations. Bushes appeared in the game, grabbing the character by the legs, diving monkeys and the opportunity to fly in a balloon.
But, unfortunately, along with the advantages, the disadvantages of the original also passed to the project: poor optimization on iOS, slow loading of the route, blurred background. In addition, at this stage, Temple Run: Oz is a very raw product. You can’t upload friends from Facebook (an error constantly pops up), the high score table doesn’t work, there are no additional characters.
For Disney, this is not the first experience with the Temple Run title. Last summer, Imangi made Temple Run: Brave based on the cartoon “Brave at Heart”. The project has gathered a good press and still shows excellent results in downloads in the American store of paid applications (now in 22nd place in overall).
Temple Run: Oz is unlikely to last that long. It is not such a high-quality product. In addition, Temple Run 2 was released relatively recently, roughly speaking, it is still “on the crest of a wave”. Releasing, literally, an identical product is a risk for Disney. Will he justify himself? We won’t know for at least a month.
Recall that the first information about the upcoming trip to Oz appeared this February.
