In a press release, Sharkmob writes that the London studio will develop AAA games for PC and consoles. At first, Sharkmob London will help the Swedish company finish work on two current projects, and then focus on creating its own title.

Sharkmob is not going to restrict the new team in any way and is ready to provide it with an “unprecedented level of creative freedom.”

The branch will be headed by James Dobrowski, who previously collaborated with Playground Games, Mediatonic and CCP. He will also be joined by Martin Connor, a veteran of Sumo, Rockstar North and Wargaming, Sam Barton, who has worked with Mediatonic, CCP and Digit, and Benjamin Penrose from Playground Games.

As the CEO of Sharkmob Fredrik Rundqvist admits, the company decided to open a studio in the UK for a reason. He calls London “a city with good national and international connections and an amazing community of developers.” In the next few years, Sharkmob plans to launch another division there.

Sharkmob is a studio from Malmo, Sweden, founded in 2017 by five developers from Massive Ubisoft and IO Interactive. In May 2019, the Chinese giant Tencent bought an unnamed share of the company.
