At the same time, the revenues of all VR titles cannot even compare closely with the revenue of the only Pokémon Go, which earned $892 million in 2017.
According to SuperData, the AR segment is still lagging behind in the VR sphere, but by 2021 it will catch up and overtake it in terms of market volume.
According to the company, both industries will grow approximately 10 times: virtual reality revenues will increase from $2.2 to $19 billion, and augmented reality will rise from $1.2 to $20 billion.
SuperData calls the introduction and distribution of high-tech systems and mixed reality devices, such as Magic Leap glasses, the driver of the growth of the AR industry, and the VR sphere will grow due to the cheaper virtual reality headsets.
