Ilkka Paananen, CEO of the Finnish mobile game developer Supercell, confirmed the company’s intentions to acquire new game studios as part of the growth planned for 2017.

“It’s no secret that we are looking at other teams, and it’s absolutely certain that we are looking for opportunities for several acquisitions outside of Helsinki and Finland,” Paananen told the Financial Times.maxresdefault

Supercell began to expand in September 2016, acquiring a controlling stake in friendly Finnish developer Frogmind. Right before the purchase, Panaanen announced that the company was looking for opportunities to invest in other developers, and even opening new studios outside Helsinki.

In 2016, Supercell earned $2.3 billion, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year. The company owes its financial performance to the huge success of the Clash Royale mobile strategy.
