Which games were the most downloaded and the most profitable for the entire existence of Google Play, – the analytical company App Annie told in its latest research.

Subway Surfers - самая скачиваемая игра на Google Play за все время

Before moving on to the most interesting (the one, in fact, for which you opened this publication), we want to focus on one important point.

In their report, the representatives of App Annie made a bit of a mistake. The Most Popular Google Play Apps of All Time is about the time period from January 2012 to March 2016, and not about the entire existence of the Google app store. The fact that Google Play received its current name only in March 2012 allowed them to state this. Previously it was called Android Market.

And now to the most interesting.

Subway Surfers has become the most downloaded Google Play game in the world (over the past 4 years). It is still among the tops of the most downloaded games in more than 80 regions (statistics are “walking” from date to date, but on April 12, the game was in the top 87 countries). Note that runners, in general, are one of the most popular genres: Temple Run 2 and Despicable Me also found a place in the top ten of the world. The problem is that the developers have not learned how to monetize them.

The mobile game that has earned the most money on Google Play in the world over the past 4 years is Puzzle & Dragons. In general, there are enough battlers in the top box office games. Monster Strike is in the third position, Summoners War is in the eighth, and The World of Mystic Wiz is in the tenth. But here it is necessary to understand that each of these games, first of all, is successful due to its local market. We are not talking about their box office success outside Japan or South Korea. Although, we note that this success on Western soil has been tried more than once or twice to reproduce.

Of the curious moments that are also worth attention.

Quarterly global downloads from Google Play have grown 3.8 times over the past four years. The quarterly revenues of the Google app store increased 35.7 times over the same period.

Games account for 40% of global downloads and 90% of the revenue generated by apps on Google Play for the entire time of its existence.

The retention of 30 days in applications is 2-4 times more than in games. The reason is not only that developers are often unable to occupy the player’s attention for a long period of time, but also that applications are usually service-oriented.
