Bandai Namco, which owns the authorship of the Pac-Man series of games, will open a branch in India.
The Japanese company plans to launch a network of family entertainment centers in the country. These are small amusement parks with themed arcade machines. The first one will open in Mumbai at the end of the month.
The decision to open a branch in India was made by Bandai Namco because the region is developing rapidly. “Expansion into the rapidly growing and constantly growing Asian market is the main goal of the company in the medium term,” commented Masaharu Igarashi, head of Bandai Namco, on the opening of the branch. The subsidiary, according to him, will provide the company with a direct presence in one of the largest markets in Asia – India. The Indian market should soon become one of the most promising markets for the company.
Experts of the analytical firm Newzoo agree with this statement of the management of Bandai Namco. In 2015, the volume of the country’s gaming market reached $428 million. However, by 2019, only the mobile segment of the gaming industry will exceed $3 billion.
