If the US increases the tariff on Chinese electronics, Sony may raise the prices of consoles in the American market itself. This was stated by Sony’s Chief financial Officer Hiroki Totoki.

Sony’s concern is understandable. Most of the parts for its gaming devices are made in China.

In the event of an increase in the tariff for Chinese products, Sony will have several options, Totoki said. One of them is an increase in PS prices for American consumers, which will eventually harm the local sector of the economy. The company is still considering other, unnamed options, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Recall that at the end of May, the administration of President Donald Trump proposed to raise the tax on many Chinese goods to 25% — and in addition to impose gaming devices on them. According to Gamespot, representatives of the United States and China will discuss the issue of the tariff just this week.
