On February 6, the authors of the RAWG gaming service announced that they had raised €1 million in January of this year. It is already known what the money will be used for.

RAWG has been launched Gadzhi Makhtiev, founder of the Kanobu website, and Alexey Gornostaev, technical director of the website, in May last year. Initially, it was positioned exclusively as a recommendation service that collects data on users’ gaming preferences and suggests projects that suit their taste.

Now the service team presents it, among other things, as a gaming analogue of IMDb. After the update, which also took place today, users can find out from the project profile about who participated in the creation of the game. And, of course, to see what other projects the developer participated in.

When it comes to games, even avid gamers operate with the names of studios and publishers and will hardly be able to remember the game designers of their favorite games. RAWG must solve this problem.

So far, there are only 15 thousand people in the database: composers, designers, directors, producers, screenwriters and other game creators. But, most likely, there will be more of them soon. The money raised will be used to increase the base of games from 52 thousand to 100 thousand titles, create an algorithm for personal recommendations, user tools for adding content and promoting the service in the Western market.

The main investors of RAWG were: Igor Matsanyuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Game Insight, Mikhail Lyalin, CEO of Zeptolab, and the game company Wargaming. Besides them, AltaIR Capital Fund and Pavel Roitberg, the creator of the Doctor Smart service, took part in the seed round.

The initial investment of Maktiyev and Gornostaev in the project amounted to $ 100 thousand. They planned to attract an additional $500 thousand last summer.
