Yesterday, Apptopia estimated Mario Kart Tour downloads for the first day at 10.1 million installs. However, Sensor Tower analysts estimated that there were twice as many installations of the game.

According to their estimates, on the release day of Mario Kart Tour, the game was downloaded more than 20 million times. This is the total data for the App Store and Google Play. At the same time, her income exceeded $1 million.

In addition, as shown in the Sensor Tower diagram, Mario Kart Tour has tripled in primary installations of Super Mario Run. The latter, according to the company, had 7 million downloads (although it was launched only on iOS). Plus Mario Kart Tour significantly bypassed such hits as Fire Emblem Heroes and Dragalia Lost.

Even taking into account the Apptopia data, the new title from Nintendo had the largest launch in the history of mobile games. It has more downloads in the first day than Pokemon GO, Clash Royale and Fortnite. Now it is the most downloaded iOS app in most regions.

But according to player spending on the first day, Mario Kart Tour is only the third mobile launch of Nintendo. The revenue of Fire Emblem Heroes for the first 24 hours was $4.3 million, and Super Mario Run was about $4 million.

Mario Kart Tour’s earnings rate is likely to increase more slowly, as DeNA (co-developer of the game) is experimenting with internal monetization. You can find out more about this here.
