The Korean giant announced the expansion of its Made for Samsung program. Now it also applies to indie developers.

Samsung поможет независимым разработчикам игр с продвижением

As part of the program, its participants can receive support from a Korean company. Support is not an investment, but assistance in marketing, promotion (here, among other things, we mean features), testing, analytics, any technical issues within the Galaxy Apps Store.

However, it is possible to get it only if the team releases its title exclusively on the Samsung mobile platform.

“We want to work with indie developers to launch their products exclusively for Samsung platforms,” said Mihai Pohontu, Samsung’s vice president for emerging platforms, as part of the announcement at GamesBeat Summit 2016.

An interesting initiative, the problem of which is the low popularity of the Galaxy Apps Store among Android users. On the other hand, 40 thousand downloads, which Samsung can provide as part of the program, for an indie studio without a marketing budget is at least something.

For VR developers, this initiative looks more interesting. The fact is that Samsung is currently helping to curate the Oculus Store. In other words, she has leverage over the store.

“Developers can get the main feature among Gear-VR compatible games [as part of the program],” says Pokhontu.
