Nintendo announced that the number of 3DS consoles sold in the United States amounted to 11.5 million since the device appeared on the market in 2011. At the same time, 16 million games for them were sold in 2013 alone.

And this figure has increased by 45% compared to the figures for 2012. The company associates the rise in sales with the releases of titles such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

According to Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo, the company does not intend to slow down in 2014. Only in the coming months, several expected games will be released, including Bravely Default from Square Enix, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy from Level 5, Yoshi’s New Island from Arzest, etc.

Judging by these data, the situation of portable consoles is not as sad as many analysts predicted. They have occupied their niche despite the expansion of the mobile market. And the most curious thing is that this niche continues to grow.
