Crytek has signed a licensing agreement with Amazon. Under the terms of the deal, the American retailer receives the rights to use the CryEngine engine. This is reported by the Kotaku resource with reference to sources close to the management of Amazon.
Earlier, Crytek had serious financial problems. In March, one of the co-founders of the company, Faruk Yerli, announced that bankruptcy had been avoided. However, he did not disclose details, limiting himself to a statement that the deal was “the largest in the history of the studio.” Now the Internet portal Kotaku claims that Amazon acted as the second party. The resource calls the value of the transaction – from $ 50 million to $ 70 million.
It is not yet known exactly what the American retailer is going to do with the technologies obtained from Crytek. The Develop Online resource suggests that Amazon plans to create its own game engine based on CryEngine.
