Rovio seems to be getting into the habit of changing CEOs. Today, on December 9, the company announced the departure of Pekka Rantala from the post of CEO.
The new CEO of Rovio is Kati Levoranta
According to Rovio, Pekka himself decided to resign from the post of CEO of the company, which he headed since January 2015.
His decision was a consequence of the changes taking place in Rovio.
Now the Finnish company has two separate business units: one will deal with games, the other with media.
The main one for the games will be Wilhelm Taht, who previously headed the publishing division of the company that worked with external teams – Rovio Stars.
The post of the person responsible for the media business and licensing will be occupied by Mikael Hed, who served as CEO of Rovio for five years before Rantala.
The Rovio board of directors made Kati Levoranta the main one over Tat and Head. The new general director of the “bird” corporation held the post of director of the legal department until 2015, and then until the new appointment was responsible for sales in the EBVA regions.
Where Rantala goes from Rovio is unknown.
His departure, as well as the restructuring, take place against the background of large layoffs in the company. Recall that in October Rovio announced that it would lay off 213 people.
By the way, if we talk about restructuring. Back in the fall, the company said that it plans to focus its efforts in three main areas for itself: games, media and consumer goods.. Now there are two of them left. However, we note that it was the division of business that was out of the question at that time.
