Vasily Sabirov, a leading analyst at devtodev, told what his company managed to do over the past year.

Vasily SabirovHow was 2017 for you?

What can I say, the year went well.

Some family metrics have increased, the rest have remained at their level – everything is fine!

How was the year for the company?

A good year. It is valuable both in itself and as a contribution to the year ahead, in which we will release a new interface with new logic.

We also released some cool new reports: a report on cumulative income, on the analysis of game versions, on market dynamics. We keep in mind a few more cool new reports that are embedded in the new interface.

From an educational point of view, the year is even more active:

  • we have written about 50 articles, in particular, I cannot but mention the series of articles by Vera Karpova on the main analytical indicators;
  • we conducted more than 10 webinars, which were attended by several thousand people in total;
  • we have released a book on stock analysis in games and are now writing the second and third;
  • and, of course, we have released a huge free course on game analytics: 16 lectures, 8 hours of videos, certificates, employment prospects.

This is a big deal.

What event of 2017 do you consider the most important for the industry?

Of the game projects, I will mention PUBG. A game with infinite replayability, with many options. And to explain its rules to the uninitiated is quite simple. An excellent example of the principle of easy to play, hard to master.

And the word of the year, perhaps, is “loot boxes”.

What trends of the outgoing year would you note?

First of all, I would like to note the growth of mobile games: we are sure that it will continue further.

Of course, it is impossible not to say about VR and AR. This trend has been talked about for a long time in all sorts of results of past years, but it seems that the most confident steps were made in this direction in 2017.

Esports is confidently taking over the world, and this is also pleasing. Games are increasingly entering the life of a modern person, and it seems to me that this is how it should be.

Name the third-party projects of this year that you liked the most.

I’ll call the iPhone X output.

Apple sedately brought out new iPhones and suddenly abruptly decided to change the pace and released a brand new product. iPhone X is valuable not in itself, but as a symbol of the growing pace of the mobile industry, moreover, the pace is growing, and the speed of this growth is also growing. It is very interesting to enter 2018 with this thought.
