The producer of the studio “Interactive Stories” Nikita Lyubimov told App2Top.ru , which events in the outgoing year hooked him the most.
Nikita LyubimovHow was 2017 for you?
2017 was spent in my labors. Our studio released the first three projects, so it was difficult to pay attention to anything other than work.
How was the year for the company?
The year turned out to be difficult, but interesting for the company. We have launched three f2p projects in softlonch, received the first data and are now in the process of actively developing all products. We are still far from the results of our fraternal children’s division, but everything is still ahead.
What event of 2017 do you consider the most important for the industry?
PUBG exit, Switch exit, Ajit Pai appointment as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission in the USA.
What trends of the outgoing year would you note?
I will omit the appearance of PUBG, Fortnite and others like them and move on to a more global one.
In the USA, they are going to cancel Net Neutrality, and if things go the same way as with their taxes, they will do it. And this can lead to completely different and unpredictable consequences in the market, which is still the main one for many. (For understanding, purely in theory, the cancellation of Net Neutrality can close the game market for developers no worse than the Chinese firewall.) Personally, I’m waiting for news from here.
Besides, I’m happy for Nintendo. They came out on mobile with Fire Emblem Heroes, and Switch are selling out. And in general, the great company stopped looking back into its past and began to look into the future.
Name the third-party projects of this year that you liked the most.
Personally, my favorite project last year was Idle Heroes. A great combination of idle mechanics with a classic buttler, which has already dragged me for six months.
In general, it seems to me that it is their idle gameplay solutions that will dominate next year. Many mobile role-playing games have been moving towards automatic battles for a long time, but Idle Heroes is perhaps the first to drastically reduce the minimum required session for all players to 5-10 minutes (compared to an hour in some more classic battlers).
I can’t help but mention Horizon Zero Dawn. For me, it was the first game that made me want to upgrade the TV. But, in general, for the game of the year market, the main event is PUBG.
