The new console from Microsoft — Xbox Series X is presented. It will be released by the end of 2020

Microsoft has finally unveiled its next-generation console to the general public. It was called the Xbox Series X. We share the details of the project and the reaction of social networks.

For the past six months, Microsoft’s new console has been known under the working name Project Scarlett. Her real name, as well as her appearance, were presented for the first time that night, at The Game Awards.

Known functions and characteristics

  • Inside — AMD Zen 2 processor, GDDR6 RAM and Radeon RDNA architecture, according to The Verge;
  • there is support for 8K resolution and 120 FPS;
  • computing power has doubled compared to the Xbox One X — up to 12 teraflops;
  • game developers have been provided with a Variable Rate Shading system and a Dinamic Latency Input function for greater responsiveness;
  • backward compatibility with Xbox 360 and Xbox One and transfer of Xbox Game Pass accounts;
  • cloud features are embedded in both hardware and software;
  • the controller has shrunk in size and received a Share button (its functions are similar to those in the Sony DualShock 4 gamepad). The controller is also compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10.

The console, as already stated in June, will be 4 times more powerful than the Xbox One X. This is primarily the merit of the designers of the novelty. As explained by the head of Xbox Phil Spencer (Phil Spenser), the industrial design of the Xbox Series X allowed to increase the power of the CPU and make its work quieter.

The Xbox Series X is made in the form of a tower with a concave grille at the top. However, the console can be installed at home both vertically and horizontally. In social networks, such a design was found comical. And not only ordinary players, but also prominent analysts.

“I know many people were amused by the design of the Xbox Series X, because it is so different from previous consoles. But the leak shows that the PS5 will have a similar design.”

Many users of social networks have associations not only with refrigerators, but also with smart speakers.

It also became known that exclusives for the Xbox Series X are now being developed by 15 studios at once. The first announced title was Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II from Ninja Theory. Recall that Microsoft acquired this developer a year ago.
