One of the founders of the PopCap studio, Jason Kapalka, has moved into a related field of activity. Instead of developing video games, Kapalka decided to start creating board games at Forbidden Games, which he also founded.

Kapalka’s Forbidden Games partner was Glenn Drover, founder of the Eagle Games board game publishing house. Drover adapted a number of well-known game franchises, including Age of Empires and Railroad Tycoon, to the desktop format.

Jason worked at PopCap for 13 years as the chief game designer. During this time, the company has created such hits of the casual genre as Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled and others. Kapalka retired from PopCap in 2014.

According to Jason Kapalka, in Forbidden Games he wants to change the attitude to casual board games, as he once managed to do in PopCap with video games for a wide range of users.

“Simple board games are not disposable garbage, but gems that can be turned into an AAA title,” Kapalka noted.

Jason Kapalka expects that his games will be of interest to both ordinary and hardcore board game lovers.
