Mobile Pokémon Masters was released a week ago. It has already earned $26 million and became the second best launch in the series.

DeNA’s Pokémon Masters is an RPG for Android and iOS, according to Sensor Tower. In it, players fight with famous Pokemon trainers after passing a short storyline. The game was released in 60 markets and quickly surpassed other Pokemon games in terms of starting revenue. Everything except Pokémon GO.

For comparison, the geolocation hit from Niantic earned $56 million in the first seven days. Plus at that time the game was only available in five regions (Australia, Great Britain, Germany, New Zealand and the USA).

But even so, the success of Pokémon Masters is obvious. Not every Pokemon game immediately starts to bring tens of millions, despite the popularity of the franchise. The starting revenue of Masters is already several times higher than that of Pokémon Quest and other games in the table:

62% of revenue ($16 million) Pokémon Masters was generated by the Japanese audience. The top 5 largest markets of the game also included the USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan and France.

Let’s add that the majority of Pokémon Masters users — 72% — are owners of iOS devices. The remaining 28% run the game on Android.
