Playtech, a developer of online gambling software, has acquired Funtactix studio, specializing in creating projects based on popular TV and movie IP.
The amount of the transaction is not specified.
The most famous Funtactix project is a time manager for social and mobile platforms The Hunger Games Adventures. Despite the popular brand, the game in grossing on iOS was not even included in the overall box office Top 500 in the USA. The company also participated in the development of Real Boxing 2 Creed, created by Vivid Games.
Playtech plans to strengthen its casual division with a new asset. The acquisition took place as part of a strategy to increase the share of Playtech in the market of games for a wide audience.
Earlier, as part of this strategy, Playtech acquired the mobile developer Plamee, which owns offices including in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as the British Yoyo Games, the authors of the Game Maker engine.
