Indie developers have a chance to have a hand in the famous vampire franchise. Paradox Interactive has launched an initiative to develop new games for the Unbound side project on the universe of the World of Darkness (World of Darkness).
Information about this appeared on the official World of Darkness website.
One of the main conditions is that titles should be created based on the fifth edition of the Vampire board game: The Masquerade. Within the framework of this edition, developers can freely realize their creative potential.
The best games will be added to the Unbound catalog on itch.io . Developers will have to place them exclusively on the same site. According to the website, they will receive 67% of the total revenue of the game and will be able to decide for themselves how much they will pay to the platform.
The copyright holders warned that these games will not become the canon of the series.
Also, indie studios were not allowed to use elements of the universe in their other projects. But they will be able to freely dispose of the original assets created within the framework of the project and not affecting the IP World of Darkness. For example, artbooks or soundtracks.
You can also apply for participation on the website. The team of the World of Darkness franchise will select the best games. As for the dates, no deadlines are specified on the website or in the application form.
Unbound originated as an initiative to support indie developers. The project was formed after the Vampire Jam, which was successfully held in the fall of 2021. As a result of the jam, 80 games were created, of which representatives of World of Darkness and Paradox chose the 8 best titles. These titles formed the basis of Unbound.
