In cooperation with the Finnish startup TeacherGaming, the Swedish company Paradox Interactive has developed an educational version of its urban planning simulator Cities: Skylines, on the basis of which school lessons can be conducted.

The educational version of Cities: Skylines is available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and it already includes eight full-fledged lessons on topics such as urban governance, ecology, and economics. Buying such a version with an automatic subscription for updates will cost the school $150.

This is the first such experience of Paradox Interactive, but, as noted by its vice president for development Shams Jorjani, the idea of turning games into educational tools is very close to the company. Georjani explained the decision to cooperate with TeacherGaming by saying that this project already has experience in similar developments.

TeacherGaming previously developed an educational mod for Minecraft — MinecraftEdu, the rights to which were then bought by Microsoft.
