The Swedish publisher, despite the cancellation of the mobile version of Hearts of Iron, is still going to strengthen its position on the App Store and Google Play. As it became known today, February 1, Paradox is developing a wargame about the battles of naval ships.
The new game, whose release is scheduled for this year, is called Leviathan: Warships. As far as can be understood from the press release, this is not a classic turn-based game or a wargame a la Panzer General, but something like SteamBirds from SpryFox. The latter, we recall, borrowed the combat system from the “Space Rangers”.
The project’s setting is far from the historical approach familiar to Paradox. Leviathan: Warships is a hymn to retrofuturism: fantastic laser cannons and giant cruisers that visually resemble ships of the early 20th century.
The game will have a ship editor in which you need to customize ships by placing weapons. The developers also promise three military factions, PvE and PvP multiplayer and, most interestingly, cloud safes. The fact is that the game will also be released on PC and Mac. So, if you went somewhere to nature after playing on the desktop system, you can continue playing Leviathan: Warships on iPhone from the same place where you left off on the PC.
The game is being developed by the authors of Magicka from Pieces Interactive.
