The mobile games market in India is expecting an “explosive” development. So says Manish Agarwal, CEO of Reliance Games studio.
Analysts are increasingly talking about the rapid growth of the Indian gaming market as a whole. Agarwal is of the same opinion. “Soon we will have the second – if not the first – most important gaming market in the world here,” he is convinced.
The advantage will be on the side of mobile games, Agarwal believes. Why? Mobile devices are cheaper. “Here we have 100 million users who skipped the PC stage and immediately switched to mobile,” he notes. Indirectly, his words are confirmed, for example, by the fact that India got into the top 20 countries in terms of revenue from games in 2014.
The lack of competition from consoles and PCs should bring mobile games to the fore. According to Agarwal, this will happen in the next two years. Now is the time, he believes, to enter this market with his game.
“There are 300 million mobile gamers here who are just waiting for your games and brands – we have already seen something similar happen in China. There is a very small market that has grown into a giant with huge revenues and the number of downloads.”
