The Oceanhorn mobile adventure game was released on the Nintendo Switch this June. On the new console, its sales turned out to be more than the total on all console platforms where it had previously been released.
The story of the game is uncharacteristic for mobile projects.
Oceanhorn was developed by Finnish indie studio Cornfox & Bros, inspired by the Zelda series. In 2013, it was published on the App Store as a paid application. With a price tag of $8.99, the project paid off two years of development in a week.
Then the project, which was regularly featured by Apple until the fall of 2014, began to appear on other sites. In addition to the quite expected – Android and Steam, it was released on Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
The total circulation of the game sold by October last year was 1 million.

Sales on Switch appear to have significantly increased this number.
However, how much, one can only guess. Previously, FDG Entertainment did not report how the copies of the game sold were distributed between platforms.
In any case, the news about the good sales of the game on Switch once again demonstrates that there is no glut of products on the Nintendo platform and premium product developers should pay attention to it.
Now Cornfox & Bros is preparing Oceanhorn 2. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 by a team of five people. It won’t work on mobile devices. Its sales launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is scheduled for October this year.
