According to NPD analyst Matt Piscatella, video cards have become the main driver of component sales growth. They have noticeably fallen in price since the beginning of the year against the background of falling excitement around mining cryptocurrencies. According to the TechPoint resource, the average cost of graphics accelerators in the United States decreased by 1.5–2 times over the year. Thanks to this, sales of gaming hardware in July reached record levels over the past 23 years.
Along with accessories, sales of gaming equipment also increased. Nintendo is again the leader in this segment. NPD reports that in July, the Nintendo Switch came out on top both in monetary terms and in terms of the number of copies sold. Last month, things were going well not only for Nintendo — sales of Xbox One consoles in July increased by 50% compared to 2017.
