Nintendo will restore production of the NES Classic Edition mini-console by the summer of 2018. The first batch of the modern version of the retro console was produced from October 2016 to April 2017.

In April, the NES Classic surpassed PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sales in the United States.

Due to the limited volume of the NES Classic series, it quickly became a shortage – at auction sites, a console with a store value of $ 70 was resold for $200 and above.

Due to overbooking, Nintendo urged fans not to help speculators and not to buy their next product — the SNES Classic Edition mini-console — for more than $80.
