The production of Switch consoles will be partially moved outside of China. This will allow Nintendo to bypass the 25% tax that the US can impose on Chinese-made goods.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo has started assembling two new Switch models. The company is transferring their release, as well as partial production of the current version of the Switch, to Southeast Asia.
Probably, it is from there that the consoles will be delivered to the American market. According to the sources of the publication, Nintendo really expects to meet demand in the United States only through production in Southeast Asian countries.
Nintendo itself confirmed the transfer of production facilities. But she does not comment on the possible release of new Switch models. Although, according to rumors, they were supposed to be announced at E3, this never happened.
Nintendo decided to partially curtail Switch production in China after the administration of US President Donald Trump proposed a large tax on Chinese-built game consoles and controllers. The tax can be approved on June 17.
