Almost a quarter of NAT Games, run by Yong-Hyun Park, the lead developer of Lineage 2 and TERA, was bought by Nexon.
More specifically, the Korean giant Nexon got 22.3% of NAT Games. The transaction was friendly and is considered by both parties as an investment. The amount of the transaction is not reported.
It seems important to us for two reasons.
Firstly, it shows that Nexon is trying to gain a foothold on mobile, where the company’s positions are really strong only in its native Korean market (where the company has more than 4 projects in the cash top 100).
Secondly, according to the deal, it is possible to judge the great confidence of Nexon management in the upcoming world release of the main project of NAT Games – the role-playing slasher HIT (Heroes of Incredible Tales), which at the moment resembles an expensive clone of “Tai Chi Panda”, whose second part from Snail Games is also on the way.
If faith in the project is not unfounded, HIT will be the first truly successful mobile game on Unreal Engine 4. At the moment, HIT is consistently among the Top 5 highest-grossing games in South Korea on Google Play.
