The top 25 companies, whose income information is publicly available, earned a total of $17.6 billion in the 1st quarter of 2016. This was reported in the study by the analytical company Newzoo.
The top 25 companies account for 89% of the total revenue earned by all public companies in the world. Compared to the previous year, the number increased by 25%.
Newzoo also shared specific figures for leading publishers. The first place in revenue for Tencent, which earned $2.6 billion in the 1st quarter of 2016. Microsoft ($1.6 billion) and Activision Blizzard ($1.5 billion) are in second and third place. Apple is on the 6th place in this ranking ($ 1.2 billion), and Google is on the 8th ($0.8 billion).
