In Russia, by the end of 2019, the gaming audience will be 66 million people. Almost half of them — 28.2 million — are paying.
Newzoo came to such conclusions in its latest research, Kommersant and Wargaming report. A little earlier we already wrote about this study, but today new figures on the Russian market have appeared.
The main figures are as follows:
- the average Russian gamer will spend $64 on game content at the end of the year (8% growth);
- Russians’ gaming expenses are among the highest in Eastern Europe (only Czechs have higher — $69.8);
- in 2019, the audience of players in Russia will grow by 800 thousand people;
- the number of paying gamers will also increase — by 0.7%;
- The turnover of the entire Russian gaming market this year will be $1.8 billion.
Also of interest is the comment of Wargaming, whose representative insists that the most active growth (around 10%) this year will be the usual games for PC and consoles. According to the company, there is also a decrease in the growth rate of the mobile games market in Russia: “If last year it increased by almost 25%, this year the growth will be only about 5%.”
We would argue with the latter. According to our information, sales of mobile games in May 2019 were 25% higher than sales of similar games in May 2018.
