Racing games are very popular among players. According to a new study by Newzoo, almost a quarter of all gamers call them one of their favorite genres. At the same time, racing fans earn more on average than other players.Most of all, racing is played on consoles

The most popular races are on consoles.

  • 30% of console gamers call racing their favorite genre.On mobile platforms and PC, the share of racing fans is 23% and 21%, respectively.
  • Over the past six months, 26% of all gamers have played at least one part of Need for Speed, and 19% have played Forza series games.
  • Half of the players in Need for Speed prefer PlayStation, while Forza is popular on Xbox (which is not surprising, given the exclusivity of the franchise for the Microsoft platform).

Over the past six months, 51% of racing fans have played the Mario series, while the average for other gamers was 37%.

  • This can be explained by the popularity of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has become one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch.In general, the preferences of racing fans are much more diverse than those of average gamers.
  • They are equally willing to play big-budget projects like Call of Duty and FIFA, and mobile games like Candy Crush and Clash Royale.Racing enthusiasts also appreciate puzzles and games that focus on collecting items.
  • Most of all, they prefer games in the open world, projects in which there are opportunities for character development, and AR/VR titles.

Demographics and other statistics

  • Racing fans are generally younger than players who prefer other genres. 25% of them are aged 10-20 years.59% of racing players are men (among gamers of all genres, this figure is 51%).
  • 36% of racing fans have a high income, which is significantly higher than the average income among all gamers.
  • 88% of racing players use YouTube.
  • Instagram Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are also actively used by them and, in general, they spend more time on social networks than the average gamers.Among their most favorite brands are adidas (83% of racing fans prefer the products of this company), Mercedes (72%), Toyota (72%) and Nvidia (50%).
