Ubisoft will stop releasing toys for the game Starlink: Battle for Atlas. The company explained this decision by too low sales of the original title.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas was released in October 2018. Monetization in the game was represented, among other things, by the toys-to-life business model – a line of physical models of ships, with the purchase of which the player unlocks their digital variants.
According to Polygon, the toys-to-life model has already proved its inefficiency. Publishers are gradually abandoning it. Initially, the release of gameplay-related toys was popularized by the Skylanders series from publisher Activision. However, in Skylanders, the toys-to-life model is at the heart of the game. And Starlink can exist without it.
Now the Starlink team is betting on fully digital content. She is preparing the largest DLC with new ships, pilots and weapons, as well as various activities.
