Monster Hunter: World became the best-selling game in the Japanese market in 2018. This is reported by the publication Famitsu, which published the bestseller chart for last year.

The leadership of Monster Hunter: World ensured sales of 2.8 million copies. Almost 2 million copies of the game were sold in physical retail, and digital downloads accounted for just over 800 million.
Let’s add that this game helped Capcom significantly increase revenue and profit. Released with a total circulation of 11 million copies, it became the publisher’s most successful project.

Sales of games and consoles in Japan
Famitsu also analyzed the dynamics of sales of games and consoles in the Japanese market.
- Total software sales increased to $2.4 billion (compared to $2.21 billion in 2017).
- But sales of devices fell to $1.54 billion (in 2017 they were $1.83 billion).
The best-selling console in Japan was the Nintendo Switch. Its result is 3.78 million devices sold last year. Next comes the PlayStation 4 (1.69 million devices). Xbox One was at the bottom of the list with a result of 15 thousand devices sold.
