Since its foundation in 2002, the company has distributed more than 2 billion electronic copies of its games on PC and mobile platforms, representatives of Big Fish said yesterday, at the same time telling how much the company earned last year.
One of the largest players in the casual games market celebrated its tenth anniversary a year ago. Fiscal 2012, in turn, was not only a milestone for the company, but also the most successful year in its history – Big Fish earned $220 million (an increase of 20% compared to 2011). Moreover, most of them came from mobile (about 30% of total sales) and free-to-play businesses (50% of mobile sales).
Despite the presence of more than 836 games in the App Store alone (for comparison, only EA has more, and even then not much), about half of all the money, it seems to us, the company earns today at Big Fish Casino. Every day, the company’s games are downloaded about 1 million times (the total for all platforms).
By the way, the latest project of the company – the Fetch quest, despite the aggressive promotion of Apple, to put it mildly, did not fire. And it’s not just that they ask for $5 for the game. Pleasant, in principle, the quest is devoid of IAP, is buggy, shows a black screen, for some reason requires a constant connection to the network and is completely devoid of a sensible training mode.
It is unclear why the company produces such products, in general, understanding the situation on the market.
