The Russian Internet giant has announced an educational initiative. This September Mail.Ru Group will start conducting courses in two state universities dedicated to the creation of video games — “Game development on Unity” and “Testing of game projects”.
Full-time classes in both subjects will be held at Voronezh State University. Only a course on working with Unity will be taught at Penza State University. The average duration of both courses will be about 50 academic hours.
The subjects will be taught by developers Mail.Ru Group and Bit.Games. For example, in Voronezh, Yulia Bakhtina, who is responsible for QA on the Juggernaut Wars project, will also talk about testing. In Penza, one of the teachers will be Alexander Barsukov, a gameplay programmer of the Guild of Heroes.
To get on the course, students and postgraduates of educational institutions will have to apply for participation, and then pass an entrance test. The courses will be open to students of other universities of a particular city (at least, this is the case in Voronezh).
Mail.Ru The Group also informs that after completing the course, students will be able to complete an internship at the company’s game studios.
The courses were launched as part of educational projects Mail.Ru Group — Igrosphere Penza and Igrosphere Voronezh, launched in 2018. The goal of both, as they say on their official websites, is “training qualified specialists in the field of game development.”
