Russian IT giant Mail.Ru The Group has launched a game project development center “Igro Tek” in the capital of Belarus. Now he is looking for specialists familiar with CryEngine. One of the startup’s managers is Alla Vasilyeva. She was responsible for development in the Minsk office of Wargaming for more than ten years.
For the opening of the Belarusian daughter Mail.Ru Svyatoslav Torik, an expert on video games from the Research & Development department of Wargaming and a gaming blogger, drew the attention of the Group in his Twitter feed. According to him, the new vacancies are designed to recruit employees to support Armored Warfare: Armata. He also noted that Igrotek hopes to lure talented developers of World of Tanks.
There is no official information about which project the new studio is working on. In the vacancies of Igro Tek for work on Armored Warfare, it only indicates that new employees will have to work in the CryEngine game engine, on which Armata was developed.
If Torik is right, this will be at least the third team for Armored Warfare. The game was originally created by the American studio Obsidian, known for the Pillars of Eternity series of role-playing games. In December 2016, it became known that the development of a multiplayer game about modern tanks is being transferred to Moscow.
Official confirmation that Vasilyeva works at Igrotek can be found on her Facebook page, where she notes that she is looking for specialists. However, it is not yet known exactly what position she holds in the startup.
According to her profile on the Wargaming website, all the games of the “tank” company that have been released since 2005 were created under her leadership. She has been responsible for working on World of Tanks since 2011. Before leaving Wargaming, she was also the CEO of the Minsk development studio for two years.
We have already asked to comment on the launch of the studio to Mail.Ru Group.
