The creative director of the shooter Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Dean Evans (Dean Evans) announced the imminent departure from Ubisoft, where he worked for 12 years. Evans decided to leave the company after management froze his latest project.
According to Gameinformer, Evans admitted that he is having a difficult period in his life right now. Not so long ago, he separated from his wife, his work at Ubisoft was postponed indefinitely.
These and other problems, coupled with a midlife crisis (Evans turns 40 this year), prompted Dean to leave the gaming industry and spend some time traveling. He also intends to return from France to his native Great Britain.
Evans noted that Ubisoft’s chief creative officer Serge Hascoët offered him to participate in another project, but by that time he had already decided to take a break and retire.
Dean also said that he was tired of the traditional approach to creating video games and was looking for new ideas. In his opinion, the future of the gaming industry is not connected with specific titles, but with virtual spaces where everyone can find adventures to their liking.
