At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG demonstrated a new wireless technology that allows you to use a TV as a display in mobile games.

The novelty appeared under the long name World’s first Wireless Ultra HD Transmission Technology. The famous Shadowgun shooter was launched on the LG Optimus G Android device, and the picture was transmitted to an 84-inch Smart TV. The smartphone was used as a controller.

According to LG representatives, this technology differs from other similar ones with a higher transmission speed. Plus, the resolution is not the usual 1080p, but 2160p.

By the way, according to eyewitnesses, the lag was still observed during the demonstration. LG explains this by interference from a large number of devices connected to Wi-Fi in the exhibition hall.

In any case, if such or similar approaches are popularized, the console will face difficult times. Who would want to buy a big box for $200-400 and games for it for $60 when some new action can be launched on a TV from their own smartphone?
