At the congress of the Russian Society of Political Scientists, Sergey Kiriyenko, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation, touched on the topic of video games. He noted that they are a space of political struggle, and therefore they need to be treated accordingly.
What exactly is meant from the message published by TASS is unclear.
Kiriyenko made a statement in connection with the discussion of politics on the Internet and how it affects children and adolescents.
The high-ranking official noted that the term “children’s policy” is being updated now. He meant that certain patterns are imposed with the help of content aimed at children. Including games.
“A serviceman of the Russian army [in the game] will always look not very pretty,” Kiriyenko cites an example. “This is far from an accident. It would be an illusion to think that this is how it happened by itself.”
It is clear that so far such a statement is no more than the position of one official. But it suggests that the government of the Russian Federation may now consider the possibility of regulating the domestic gaming industry.
