Within the framework of the “Russian Internet Week” Kiriyenko met with representatives of the IT industry.

At the meeting, they talked about the bias of the media and authorities in relation to the gaming industry.

A number of officials believe that the fascination with video games leads to tragic consequences. One of the many examples is the story of the Kerch shooter Vladislav Roslyakov, who staged an explosion at a college last month. When it became known that he was an avid gamer, experts were quick to blame a non-existent game for the tragedy. State Duma deputy Yevgeny Marchenko even proposed banning gaming resources and putting gamers on the register.

Kiriyenko, on the contrary, is ready to support the industry. He stated that its economic indicators cannot be ignored, as well as the degree of its influence on the audience. According to him, Russian games need to be promoted on the global market.

At the moment, there is no regulatory framework for regulating the gaming industry in Russia. Self—regulation is most suitable for a game rendezvous, Kiriyenko believes, so the industry will be able to decide for itself how to interact with the authorities, the press and the advertising industry.

Kiriyenko called on the creators of video games to create a Russian association and solve various issues together with the state and society. In particular, this applies to game content for children and teenagers.

The topic of the state’s attitude to the gaming industry was raised by the head of the Russian Computer Sports Federation Emin Antonyan. Later, he discussed this with representatives of the IT industry and esports. With which ones — it is not specified.
