King Senior Vice President Tjodolf Sommestad told MCV about this in a private conversation: “We are working on a midcore title.”
However, he did not specify the details: “this is the area in which we are interested, but we have nothing to announce about this.”
Considering that out of the top ten games by revenue over the past year, seven are midcore, King’s desire to try himself in this market is understandable.
Another question is — is this a big surprise?
Rather, no than yes. The fact is that King has been working in this direction for a long time. In 2014, the “candy” company acquired Singapore Nonstop Games, which developed the midcore Heroes of Honor.
The studio is now functioning as an internal one. The founder of Nonstop Games Juha Paananen (Juha Paananen) currently holds the position of its head at King.
It is logical to assume that he is engaged in the development of the yet-to-be-announced midcore project King.
