It became known which monetization will replace the loot boxes in Rocket League. It is called Blueprints and is associated with crafting items for a new currency.
The future innovation was reported by the Daily Gaming Report. Psyonix developer studio called this mechanic a “more transparent” form of monetization than loot boxes.
How does it work?
- After each match in Rocket League, the user may randomly get a “Blueprint” (Blueprint). In addition, all the loot boxes in the player’s inventory will turn into “Drawings”.
- This “Drawing” allows you to create an in-game item. For example, a part for cars that can be repainted, an item for counting goals scored in a match, etc. The player immediately sees which item can be created. It is not necessary to use “Drawings” — they can simply be stored in the inventory.
- To create an item according to the “Blueprint”, players will spend a new in—game currency – credits purchased for real money. They will replace the keys for the loot boxes. Keys, by the way, are converted into credits.
- With the same currency, the player can make purchases in a new store or purchase a Rocket Pass Premium battle pass. But credits cannot be exchanged for tokens for esports and other events in Rocket League.
- “Blueprints”, credits and a store will appear in the game in December.
Psyonix promised to change the monetization system in its game last year. We add that the studio will also continue to earn on esports cosmetics and DLC with exclusive content.
Rocket League is a multiplayer arcade auto football and one of the Steam hits. In May of this year, the developer was bought by Epic Games.
