Thanks to the release of the action adventure God of War, gamers in the United States spent $ 124 million more in April this year than a year earlier. The new God of War also helped sell the maximum number of PlayStation 4 consoles and games for this platform last month, according to the analytical company NPD Group.
According to NPD analyst Matt Piscatella, the April sales of titles for PlayStation 4 generated the maximum amount for one platform in the entire history of the company’s observations since 1995.
The previous record lasted exactly 10 years — it was set by sales of Xbox 360 games in April 2008. Most likely, it was connected with the release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
As for console sales, in April, the PlayStation 4 broke two Nintendo Wii records at once — in terms of the number of units sold and in terms of revenue in dollars.
