Developer and publisher Kim Kardashian: Hollywood has taken on serious cuts. The company is closing a studio in Bellevue and laying off some employees from three American offices.
A decision has already been made to deprive 107 people of positions in Bellevue, Long Beach and San Francisco.
Depending on how Car Town Racing will show itself in the softlonch, the company may dismiss another 33 employees, having already completely dissolved the team in Long Beach (the transfer of the project to the Carbonated studio has already begun).
Glu Mobile calls the closures and layoffs a restructuring, as part of which it closed studios in Beijing and San Mateo in 2016.
At the same time, the company plans to increase staff in San Francisco and its Indian studio in Hyderabad. Therefore, Glu Mobile management believes that development and research costs will remain at the same level in 2017.
The closure of the Bellevue office may be due to the fiasco of the celebrity games pipeline. Last November, Glu Mobile shut down Katy Perry Pop. Britney Spears: American Dream is still functioning, but it is not even in the Top 1000 box office games in the USA on iOS.
At the same time, Glu Mobile is actively buying up game studios. Last November, the company acquired Crowdstar for $ 45 million, and in December, QuizUp authors for $7.5 million.
