The German authorities have allocated €50 million from their budget to create a fund for the development of game development. For the first time, the German gaming industry received support at the federal level.
This is a historic step for Germany as a country where video games are played.

According to the representative of the Association of German Game Developers, with the support of the state, German studios will be able to catch up with the developers of Great Britain, France and Canada. In these three countries, thanks to government support, the creation of games is 30% cheaper, and there developers can afford large projects.
The lack of such projects in Germany has led to the fact that local titles account for only 6% of the amount that the German consumer spends on games.
Nevertheless, the Federal Ministry of Transport (which will manage the new fund) and the Budget Committee are aiming to change the situation for the better. By the way, German studios already have something to brag about: it was here that such popular series as Risen and Gothic (Pirahna Bytes), and Crysis (Crytek) were born.
