An editorial selection called “Indie Corner” will appear in the Google store. The innovation will help small teams promote games.
Google has not yet decided what exactly will appear in the “Indie Corner”. It is known that the selection will include stylistically or genre unusual games from small studios.
“These will be relatively small teams. About 11-15 people, within such limits. And as for the genre, it’s something creative or stylistically unusual,” a company representative commented on the innovation.
Since Google does not have an exact definition of “indie”, the games will be selected not by the program, but by the editorial team.
We add that the initiative was announced during the GDC conference in San Francisco. It is not known when the innovations will take effect.
